Handmade bespoke shoes
Handmade or hand-stitched shoes are
designed and made to each individual
clients own design and fit so each pair
is unique to their owner. This process
takes time so please allow around six
months from your first visit to having a
completed pair of custom made shoes hand
crafted for you.
There are four stages to having your own
designer handmade shoes:
The Fitting - First
Visit
We have an in-depth discussion about
your shoe design heel height required,
toe shapes etc. Furthermore we’ll talk
about any problems you have with shoes
and your feet, and your way of walking.
Your feet are measured and notes and
drawings taken to assist in selecting
the right last (the form on which the
shoe is made) from my stock of lasts, or
a bespoke last can be made especially
for you. If you bring any shoes you like
or find comfortable, and pictures of any
shoes you like, this would help with the
first visit.
Design and
Materials
- Second Visit
Design and
materials At this point we work on the
design to be made on the last. You can
choose leather or fabric type and
colours from my selection, or I can
source materials and colours to suit
your needs.
Once the design is chosen, it is then
made in to a useable pattern; the
pattern includes all the intricate
details of your design. From the pattern
your upper is created by a Closer,
from the leather pieces clicked (cut
out) by your designer.
Lasting & Finishing Your Design -
The Third Visit
Lasting &
finishing Your designer uppers are then
lasted over your last. Checks are made
at this stage to make sure the shoes are
the perfect fit. When this is assured
the soles and heels are attached.
Your Completed Shoes
- Fourth Visit
Your completed shoes The
final fitting and you will have your
perfectly fitting shoes designed and
made for you by Knogley Shoes. |
